Problem:

After an XP3 chart or slide is setup, an error may be received with the following messages:

"Run time error - 2147220995 (800401FD Method Object Failed)"

"OR

The selected object is not an XP3 object. Please select an XP3 object and try again. "

If the user then double clicks an XP3 chart, an error appears with a message:

Microsoft PowerPoint can’t start the application required to open this object. An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?

Clicking Yes does not repair the problem and if the user clicks no another message appears:

There isn’t enough memory available to read Worksheet.

Solution:

The save settings in both PowerPoint and Excel can cause the described problems. If the settings for saving Excel files are set to Microsoft Excel 07-2000 &5.0/95 Workbook or PowerPoint 97-2000 & 95 Presentation, the objects will be saved in a format that is not supported by XP3.

To change the save settings:
1. In PowerPoint, go to Tools, Options, click the Save tab, change the option Save PowerPoint files as: to PowerPoint Presentation
2. In Excel, go to Tools, Options, click the Transition tab, change the option Save Excel files as: to Microsoft Excel Workbook.
